Sometimes you want to verify that a land has no pending court case before purchase so you don’t have avoidable

issues later. This is very important but It has always been an arduous process carried out by lawyers. However, a

company – Legal Metrics Solution Limited – in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Justice have put up

an online solution that makes it possible to verify a property is not the subject of a lawsuit. The solution is called

Lagos State Lis Pendens Electronic System.

Lis pendens simply means “pending suit”. It is a written notice that a lawsuit has been filed concerning real estate property.

To do an online verification, navigate to the website:

Click on “Search” on the main menu bar.

You can search by property description, suit number, judge/court or parties. I personally think searching with

“parties” or “suit number” gives the most relevant results.

I am not sure the records at https://lnkd.in/ewRtUvc is exhaustive but it is a very good place to start your search

and you can do it from the convenience of your home or office
