Headline: Epe Fast Becoming Dubai of Nigeria

Mr. Bayo Lawal, the co-founder, and head of Strategy & Growth, Dukiya Investment, during the one-year dinner celebration of the firm, described Epe as an untapped environment. He further stated that the place is gradually turning out to be the Dubai of Nigeria because of the escalating level of development going on there. In describing Epe, he affirmed that the place offers affordable houses and that investors are keying into this opportunity.

Mr. Lawal further noted that most government projects that could not take place in some developed areas of Lagos are being moved to Epe. More so, some companies like Berger with their cashew plants, and other companies are setting up their outfits there.

Headline: 3 Dead, Others Injured as 3-Story Building Collapses in Lagos.

According to the Tribune newspaper, three persons comprising a woman and her child have been confirmed dead while 23 residents were rescued as a 3-story building collapsed on Sunday night in the Ebutte Meta area of Lagos, situated on 24, Ibadan street. The building was reported to have collapsed around 10 pm with most residents still inside.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident and said that efforts are being made to rescue the trapped residents of the building. As of the time of this report by Tribune newspaper, emergency efforts by the official of LASEMA, FRSC, and the Nigerian police force are already in full force.

Headline: Surveyors Canvass Intellectual Property Hub Development

On World Intellectual Property Day, the Business Assets & Intellectual Property Valuation Division, Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), called on the government to direct attention to intellectual property hub development.

The chairman of the union, Mr. Olalekan Akinwumi speaking on the theme of the event, described the youths as an “untapped source of ingenuity and creativity” He encouraged them to realize their capabilities and acquit themselves with IP tools and how the tools can support their dreams and aspirations. He called on the government to give more attention to the development of the youths, build more IP hubs, and have more enabling laws to protect their interest. Mr. Olalekan said that the youths are filled with energy and innovation, and already reshaping the future with their creative mindset, actions, and thirst for a better future. He further said that the youth’s discoveries and innovations could be turned into money if they are properly harnessed, and this will bring foreign investments to the country thereby contributing to the growth of the economy.

Headline: FG Urged to Intervene Over High Inflation in Real Estate Sector

Experts in the real estate sector have urged the federal government to urgently intervene in the face of the high level of inflation facing the real estate and the construction sector. Mr. Adeyinka Ramos, the CEO of Ramos Realty, complained that the real estate sector is one of the sectors most hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. He further stated that the sector still suffers from the aftermath of the pandemic and the skyrocketing exchange rate. Ramos noted that the real estate sector which saw a growth of 3.85% in the second quarter of 2021 as reported by The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), has continued to remain low due to the inflation resulting in the increased cost of construction and over-dependence on imported building materials. He called on the government to look into the issue of inflation while reiterating the need for the players in the sector to diversify as a means to solve the problem of the declining real estate and construction sector and reduce the cost of building.
